US WW2 lanyard for the .45 M1911 pistol or the .38 revolver. Made of a nicely woven cotton cord with hand sewn leather tab to attach the black steel hook.
These cords have an overall measurement of 38 inches. These would be attached to the lanyard ring on the bottom of the grip, and the cord would be worn over the shoulder making it easier to not drop ones side arm.
