Thumbnail Filmstrip of German Wallet, Black Images
This is a very accurate copy of one of the most typical styles of wallet used by German soldiers and civilians during WWII. There was no military issue wallet in the Wehrmacht, soldiers would bring their wallets from home or could buy the same wallets available to anyone. This wallet is the correct large size that was used in the 1930s-40s for both military and civilian identification documents. It is made of a real pebble grain black leather that is just like the original. The wallet closes with a simple flap and strap arrangement. Inside, there are multiple pockets for personal papers (such as the Soldbuch, Kennkarte, Fuhrerschein, etc.), currency, or whatever else needed to be carried by the individual. There are also small pockets that are sized for train tickets of the era. This reproduction wallet comes complete with a separate, removable insert, that is transparent, with leather edging. This would have been used to protect and store small passes or identity documents. The original wartime or pre-war German wallet that we copied had this feature and we decided to include it in this faithful reproduction. There are no markings, which is correct (the military maker marks and dates used on some other reproductions are a fantasy detail that the originals did not have). With some wear and use these will basically pass for original items.
