The Knights Cross was Reintroduced in 1939 by Adolf Hitler, the crown
and "W" emblems of the previous WWI issue were replaced with
the swastika. This is a fine quality die-struck medal marked
800 and makers mark L/12.
The Oak Leaves Swords and Diamonds were instituted on July 15th 1941 this was to
be a high variant of the Knight's Cross, being awarded to those who had
already received the Oakleaves with Swords and continued to show bravery
and exemplary conduct. These were only awarded 27 times before the end
of the war however 3 individuals were never presented with them due to
the deteriorating situation the Germans were faced with.
